Oakshield

Download Oakshield on the computer you want to protect.

Installing it

  1. Press Download Oakshield above. Your web browser saves a file called Oakshield-Setup.
  2. Open that file. In most browsers it appears at the top or bottom of the window, or in your Downloads folder.
  3. Windows asks "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?" Check that the publisher shown is [the name on Oakshield's code-signing certificate], then choose Yes.
  4. Follow the steps on the screen. Oakshield then asks a few questions: who to call for help, and which family member to tell if something goes wrong.
  5. If you have a subscription, type the activation code from your purchase email when Oakshield asks for it. You can also do this later, in Oakshield's Settings.

Only download Oakshield from this page. The address bar should show oakshield.app and nothing else before the first slash. If someone sends you a link to "Oakshield" anywhere else, or asks you to install it while they're on the phone, don't. Here's how to tell it's really us.

What you need

  • A computer running Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit).
  • At least 1 GB of free disk space (most of it is for virus information).
  • An internet connection, for scam website lists and virus information.
  • Chrome, Edge or Brave, for blocking scam websites. Oakshield sets up its browser protection for you.

Oakshield doesn't run on Mac computers, iPads or phones.
